HealthCare Communications and DBL Enterprises have combined forces to integrate MediMac FX and Flash Code.
Flash Code supports rapid searches with documentation and validation of the ICD, CPT, and HCPCS code sets. Validation of codes occurs as follows:
1. ICD codes are checked for maximun specificity in accordance with HCFA rules.
2. CPT code pairs are checked for unbundling based on the 125,000+ Correct Coding Initiative edits.
3. ICD to CPT Medicare Mandated code combinations are evaluated based on Medicare bulletin directives by state.
MediMac version 3.9.7 now contains a bridge that allows users to pass validated codes into the practice management module. Users will find a 30 day trial copy of Flash Code on the CD-ROM installer for this version. A pass key, available from HCC, activates the bridge. Once codes have been validated in Flash Code, they can be passed to MediMac at the click of the Bill MediMac button.
In related news, Apple Computer Inc. is stepping back into Health Sciences by promoting the Computer Aided Medical Practice (CAMP). Flash Code and MediMac compose two pieces of this project, with PowerMed electronic Medical Records software composing the third.
